"I took this photo of the Enka Clock Tower in late October, because I’ve learned over the years that even our most symbolic structures are always at risk. Then, in early November, this nearly century-old Asheville icon was slated for demolition to make room for a parking lot. I’m sad my suspicions were justified, but happy to say that, for the time being, community outrage appears to have convinced the developer to keep the tower. Whatever comes next, I’m glad to have captured the tower alone in its field at a perilous time in its ninety-two year history."
