A pinhole photograph of an over-photographed tree.  It’s seen in ad campaigns and brochures. I’ve shot a million portraits under its branches. One day I decided it was time to photograph the tree by itself, for its own sake. This is how it looked that morning, twisted and gnarled from its hard life on top of the mountain. One of the few subjects I’ve presented in both lensed and lensless photographs, because each captures an aspect of this tree that can’t be rendered any other way. A 30-second exposure. -mc
